General Information

Little Athletics is broadly based on a philosophy of Family, Fun and Fitness.   It is more than a sport.  Family involvement is of the ultimate importance. Parents can share in a variety of experiences with their children.  They serve as voluntary helpers or officials.

Children with ability in athletics are catered for by coaching and special programs.  Efforts are mainly concentrated, however on the average Little Athlete and every effort is made to ensure that awards for personal achievement are on a par with rewards for winning.


The Bendigo Little Athletics Centre is part of the Victorian Little Athletics Association and as such must abide by the directions and decisions of the Association.


The Association provides education, organization and co-operation of all aspects of Little Athletics.  The children in the Association are organized into clubs, centres and regions throughout the Country and Metropolitan areas.


Bendigo belongs to the Northern Region.  Other centres in our region are ; Echuca, Castlemaine, Kyneton, Woodend, Seymour, Kilmore, Kyabram ,Albury, Wodonga, Wangaratta, Benalla, Mansfield, Shepparton, Rochester,Yarrawonga/Mulwala, Murrundindi, Lavington/Jindera



REGISTRATION – Every competitor must be registered.  All sections of the registration form should be completed and returned promptly to the registrar of the club that you wish to join.  A registration fee must be returned with the registration form.  All new registrations require proof of age.

Supplementary Registration Forms must also be completed and duty preference indicated.  All parents are expected to assist at Little Athletics.  A Video/ Photography Release Form must also be signed in order to give permission for athletes to be photographed at Little Athletics.

INSURANCE – The Victorian Little Athletics Association insurance policy covers all Little Athletes from the date the registration form and fee are handed into the centre. All Little Athletes & Officials are covered during the period of Official Club, Centre, Region and State Competitions, during training and activities.


CENTRE UNIFORMThe VLAA requires all athletes to wear the provided registration number/chest patch at all times at all Centre activities.  This is a safety, procedural and sponsorship requirement.  This allows other parents to know your child’s name and age group.  In case of accident or emergency the child’s name can be accessed quickly.


The athlete should also wear appropriate footwear and clothing for participating in athletics events.  Bendigo Little Athletes wear a Centre Polo Shirt and royal blue shorts in centre competition.  For competition at regional and state events athletes must have Competition uniform. 













FOOTWEAR & SPIKES – Runners or sneaker type shoes must be worn at all events.  Thongs and bare feet are not acceptable.  Spikes are permitted only for athletes in Under 12,13,14 & 15 age groups.  Spikes are permitted in some field events and only laned running events. Spikes must not exceed 6mm conical.  All athletes using spikes must use starting blocks.
